Don’t show again ×

Illustration of the desktop hint. The app shows your chosen shortcut, including a custom one. Available in Mio 0.1.22 for Mac and Windows.

Enough help to learn. No nagging.

Automatic hints last eight seconds. They appear at most twice a day and six times altogether, and stop after three completed rewrites. Dismissing one also pauses hints for at least 30 minutes.

You choose how much help

Choose Don’t show again right on the hint to turn it off. You can change your mind from Mio → Selection hint:

  • Automatic: a few reminders while you learn.
  • Always: a button for new selections, with a short cooldown.
  • Off: just your keyboard shortcut.

On Mac, open Mio in the menu bar. On Windows, right-click Mio beside your clock. These preferences stay on that computer.

Where will it appear?

In editable fields that expose their selected text to your operating system. It stays away from passwords, terminals and Mio’s own windows. Some editors do not expose selections; a missing hint does not mean your shortcut is unavailable. On Mac, Mio needs its Accessibility permission.

Keep the same text selected until the rewrite finishes. If the app or selection changes, Mio stops instead of pasting into another place.

What happens to my words?

The hint checks selections locally. It does not copy your words to the clipboard or send them anywhere. Clicking the button or pressing the shortcut starts your usual protected rewrite.
